Air Jordan 4 Bred Python Custom by @TheShoeSurgeon

The Air Jordan line has been getting its taste of animal skin as of late in the custom sneaker world. The most recent is the Air Jordan IV in the classic “bred” colorway. Created by Dominic Chambrone aka The Shoe Surgeon this Jordan retro was reconstructed with an overlay of black python skin over the entire black nubuck upper. The back heel tabs and eyelet wings were kept while the Air Jordan flight tongue tags were replaced with those of The Shoe Surgeons logo lasered into red suede. Exotic. [more]

Justin Bieber Custom Android Homme Shoes at American Music Awards 2011

This year at the AMAs, the American Music Awards, was a bit different for teen pop star Justin Bieber who walked away with six awards 12 months ago. Bieber went home empty handed, even though he was only up for one as Favorite rock/pop male artist. One thing that was the same as last year for Bieber though was being outfitted once again in custom footwear by The Shoe Surgeon. Over the past year nearly every music performance by Bieber has showcased the unique work of Dominic Chambrone aka The Surgn. Last November was an black pair of KR3W high tops while this past weekend Bieber was able to level up with a pair of Android Homme Discovery Boots. Pictured below is the gray shoe in its original state before “surgery.” The Shoe Surgeon’s customization starts with a transplant of a red leather tongue and lasered label. Next the uppers were replaced and restitched with a buttery cream leather complete with inside zippers, new lace eyelets. The final transformation is of the MJ Thriller jacket-esq layered red leather on the back heels. The work of a “specialist”, indeed.

Pendleton Wool Supra Skytop III by the Shoe Surgeon X Factory 413

Decon-recon customizer The Shoe Surgeon based in Santa Rosa, California is probably the first to break ice the when it comes to customizing the new Supra Skytop III skate shoe. These were created as part of the festivities for the 3rd Skytop’s release party at Factory 413 in Los Angeles earlier this month.  A complete transformation takes these from a modern skate shoe to a pair of classic western inspired footwear. A new Vibram boot sole replaced the rubber cup sole to start. Next the silhouette of the Skytop was kept true but new materials replaced all pieces starting with leather in place of the molded side TPR cage and heel tabs and lining the edge of the entire upper. The most unique look is from the front panels made from a colorful vintage Pendleton wool. Looking closely you can see the tongues and back heel ovals made from cow hide bring the western look full circle. The ankle area is a rich brown suede and boot eyelets are pulled together by some nice leather laces. But the finer details really finish these off as laser engraving of the 413, Supra, and Shoe Surgeon logos are imprinted on the leather in different areas.

These are likely a going to stay a 1 of 1 design but you if want your own unique reconstructed hand made shoe visit TheShoeSurgeon.com

Justin Bieber Custom Shoes: KR3W Franklin by The Shoe Surgeon

Back on November 21, 2010 at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles, CA Justin Bieber owned the winner’s list and likely would have won the best shoes worn at the awards show.  The shoes Bieber wore were custom pair of KR3W Franklin’s by The Shoe Surgeon. What had started as a simple black leather sneaker boot hybrid was subtlety changed into a pair of award show worthy footwear. The back heel zippers were given a more distinct look by being covered with a metallic gold leather. Seemingly keeping with the black of Bieber’s outfit and the AMA’s trophy the toes and design lines of the side panels were covered in a black patent leather. At the end of the night Bieber walked to the podium 4 times in this pair of KR3W Franklin’s to accept awards for: Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album for My World 2.0, Artist of the Year and T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist. That’s a lotta looks at those customs.
