There were 16 entries into the first PaintorThread Custom Contest. Showcasing a wide variety of skills and experience. Now it is time to vote.

Voting Guidelines: 1 vote per email address, choose 1 winner email the letter they are given, send to contact@paintorthread.com. Multiple votes from the same email will be denied. ALL VOTES MUST BE IN BY THURSDAY JUNE 11th. The total public vote will represent roughly 1/7th of the total votes. The other 6/7 by the listed judges.

I have submitted one of my latest creations: It was my favorite book as a child and one of the most popular worldwide at the time. “Threadbear” is a classic story of love and dreams and these shoes depict this by representing this story in fashionable footwear- a teddy bear that has been unconditionally loved. Don’t we all want a pair of shoes we can adore? Notice that the tongues have bear ears; I have even put a squeaker in the tongue, as in the book Threadbear has lost his squeaker then finds it again.

The kicks are called Adidas Kung-Fu Slip On’s i used snake skin for the panels and did a loafer stitch across the mid panels, also repainted the 3 stripes in a pewter like color, and custom Bruce Lee insoles.

I wanted to enter my “Rugrats” Custom Women’s Blazers. These were done for a customer that wanted something bright and that would break necks at the Atlantic City DUB Car Show. She loves old school cartoons and and I love painting old school cartoons on kicks so we chatted and came up with this theme collectively.

Well here are some custom Adidas Concords I rebuilt the top, took off the velcro straps, plastic lace guides and the tongue and used a sewing awl.

The kicks are called Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers.  They are done on Greedy Genuis base shoes and inspired by the vinyl series Finders Keepers by artist Joe LedBetter, better known as JLED.  They feature many of the different characters in a very bright colorway.

The pair of shoes i picked is a pair of all white air force 1′s that i customized. They were for Aldrick allen aka. Buddy Lee. So for his shoes i put purple crush velvet on the toe of the shoe and around the nike sign, Than i painted the swosh and around the laces orange. Than on the left shoe i painted “Buddy” in orange on the back part of the shoe in bubble graffitti letters with a purple outline. Than on the right shoe on the back i painted “Lee” in orange with a purple outline.
